Fundraisers
Yard
Sale -- This is pretty much just your basic yard sale. Start
announcing it about 3 weeks to a month ahead of time to the
congregation, telling them to drop off anything for the yard
sale at certain times on certain days. Get it announced in
the local papers and radio stations and assign different
youth to make signs for the neighborhood. On the Friday
evening before the Saturday yard sale, all the youth should
report to the church (or site of sale) to price the items and
to organize everything. Pizza is a good thing to have during
this planning.
Servant
Auction -- One Sunday after church have the participating
youth line up in front of the congregation. Explain to the
congregation that the youth will do chores for them. Have
people suggest chores they need done and let them bid until
one price wins. After all the bidding is done, meet with
youth and everyone claims jobs. Set a day by which all the
jobs must be done and have them collect the money after the
job. It is the youth's responsibility to be in touch with
their "boss."
Parent's Night Out -- Basically this is a huge baby-sitting
job. Advertise in local newspapers, on radio, and television.
Plan one night from about 6-11 that the youth will keep any
children brought to them at the church. Plan games and
activities for the kids. Have a per child, per hour rate with
discounts for parents with more than 2 kids.
